From Mr. Webster: Mercator: of, relating to, or drawn on the Mercator projection which is a conformal map projection of which the meridians are usually drawn parallel to each other and the parallels of latitude are straight lines whose distance from each other increases with their distance from the equator.)<\/p>\n<p>One of his new finds that Jonas is proud of is Mikael Daez, 22, who graduated with a Business Administration degree from Ateneo (\u201cTrue Blue,\u201d he said, \u201cI studied at Ateneo from grade school to college\u201d) last March and who has appeared in a few commercials (for Jollibee Champ, Yogurt, Dole Juice, SM, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Mikael formally took a bow in the fashion world at the Philippine Fashion Week in October last year and in commercials last June. Already, he\u2019s turning heads. A Funfare source said that two big networks are racing against each other to pin him down to a contract (may the faster one win, good luck!).<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI\u2019m taking one step at a time,\u201d said Mikael who is pure Filipino, the second of eight siblings (six guys and two girls). He\u2019s a Lola\u2019s Boy, no wonder he stays with his grandmother in Makati. More of an athlete in school than anything, Mikael was a member of the Eaglets (Ateneo High\u2019s basketball team and the collegiate Team B). A fast learner, he can learn how to act if and when (just look what ex-model Derek Ramsay has shown).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fun growing up in a big family,\u201d added Mikael whose father (a businessman) died six years ago and whose mom works as a consultant of two companies.<\/p>\n<p>How was he discovered?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, I needed cash and my friend said, \u2018Hey, it\u2019s Fashion Week.\u2019 I said, \u2018What is that?\u2019 He said, \u2018It\u2019s a fashion show; you can join and earn money.\u2019 So I tried. That\u2019s where somebody from Mercator saw me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Capricornian (Jan. 6), Mikael is a six-footer who wears medium-sized shirt and briefs, and size-11 shoes.<\/p>\n<p>How do you take care of your (model\u2019s) body?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI come from a family that\u2019s very active, always on the go, a lover of sports. Being active is natural with me. It helps me maintain this kind of body. I work out at the gym three times a week. Sometimes, I run but I\u2019d rather play basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What part of your body needs improvement?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo part in particular. I just keep on improving my whole body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What part is most vulnerable?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And what part is your favorite?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy jaw. It\u2019s prominent. They say that it\u2019s an asset in modeling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What part of a girl\u2019s body do you look at first?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe legs. If the legs are sexy, you can be sure that the rest of the body also is. Generally, I like girls who know how to take care of their body, one who doesn\u2019t slouch and who is active.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What else turns you on in a girl?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe must be spontaneous and a good talker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And what turns you off?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGirls who are indecisive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What kind of diet do you follow?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I\u2019ve been going to a gym in Glorietta and right beside it is Subway which has a 100-bucks promo. I love the roast-chicken sandwich. I eat it before working out and eat it again after working out. That\u2019s usually my breakfast because I go to the gym early in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Is that all for breakfast?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt home, spam and egg with rice. My whole family grew up on spam and egg. Kung may garlic fried rice, bonus na \u2018yon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For lunch?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJapanese food preferably. Chicken Teriyake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For dinner?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNowadays, I keep my dinner light. Maybe just a sandwich. If I do a lot of work during the day, sometimes a little rice with ulam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snacks in-between?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust fruit shakes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How much water do you take per day?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than eight big glasses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soda?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly when I eat pizza.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What vitamins do you take?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should take some but I always forget.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Do you take hard drinks?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery rarely, only on certain occasions. Ordinarily, only beer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Do you smoke?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How do you cope with stress?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hang out with friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What about massage?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToo expensive. I would love to have it if I had the money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Outlook in life?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m an optimist. Life is good and I look at things from a bright side. Life isn\u2019t measured by the number of breaths you take but by the number of moments that take your breath away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How much sleep do you get per night?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSix hours but I try to get more. I take naps between shoots or shows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Favorite sleepwear?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasketball shorts and a comfy shirt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How many pillows do you sleep with?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFour. One under my side, two on either side and one I hug.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Do you snore?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I hope not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Do you talk in your sleep?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think so. I take my time looking for the right person. I enjoy meeting new people.
